I agree to the appointment being offered to

Heathcote Smith for three rooms, on basis of payment from Hong Kong funds of his basic salary, plus duty allowance of 8350 sterling per annum. He would receive, in addition, high cost of living allowance and quarters would be provided, if available, at vent a equivalent to 12 per cent of his salary. If quarters are not available, he will receive allowance in lieu in accordance with General Orders.

I agree to payment of pension contribution as suggested in your telegram. Increments due on his basic salary during period of secondment to Hong Kong would also be met from local funds.
